Sonnet 130 4 U

My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips’ red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun:
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white;
But no such roses I see in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath from my mistress reaks:
I love to hear her speak,
yet well I know that music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go:
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
as any she belied with false compare."

Body Nurish Home Spa

William Morris wallpaperThe Super Salve Company created Body Nurish Products to renew the skin's richness and health, in the luxury of your own home.  Using these wonderful products on a regular basis restores skin tone, texture and radiance.
With all the money you save having treatments at home you can buy an 18 kt. gold heart with pink sapphires for your Tiffany's charm bracelet,  a very very large ottoman to replace your sofa, or commission handpainted wallpaper for the bathroom.

Staying In Can Be Nice Too

These routines aren't as much fuss as they seem once you have everything in place- products and oils. A salon treatment is nice, but sometimes staying home can be nicer.  Squeeze lemons, pour over ice with some fizzy water and fresh mint. Put on Stan Getz My Funny Valentine or some Brazilian Pop from the 1960's, and wear a slip for a nightie, it's so very Butterfield 8. The scene is where you are. With the money you saved, buy fresh peonies for your home, a very generous amount in a Wedgwood vase. So, for a serene yet sophiticated you:
Blend lemon essential oil with geranium, this combination is cleansing and balances oil production. Use jojoba as a carrier oil.
Place 3 cups of very hot water in heatproof bowl and add 2 drops juniper berry and 2 drops grapefruit oil to deep cleanse. Lean over the bowl, inhale deeply and hold towel over your head. Do this for 5 minutes.
After rinsing the skin, apply the oil blend all over the face in small circular movements. The oil will begin to work into the deeper layers of skin.
With one hand on each side of the face, use the fingers to smooth the skin in long strokes. This encourages lymphatic drainage and tones the facial muscles. Repeat three times.
Tapping the face. Use your fingers to tap lightly all over the face, so the skin feels invigorated and refreshed. Tap over all areas, including the forehead, this relieves stress.
do this weekly, your pores will tighten and your skin will be well toned.

Best Facial Ever- Shiatsu Facial Massage

As summer wanes, try a shiatsu facial massage - the results are soft, defined, and lovely - my TMJ disappeared like a dream at dawn.  This massage technique is amazing - the results are healthy, and younger-looking skin. A shiatsu facial massage also helps in enhancing blood flow to the face area, improving skin tone. Energy to the muscles renders them softer, fuller.  A shiatsu facial massage  improves and restores the functioning of the liver and gall bladder. By applying pressure to the key trigger points, a facial massage rejuvenates your beauty, and you are soooo zen the rest of the day.
Spritz your face with Power Repair Face Mist afterwards -a mist that delivers vitamin C ester into the skin cells, hydrating and soothing skin and contains 100% pure essential oils of lavender, ylang ylang, and geranium.
Gentle reader, I am too cool to have ever owned a television, but I am so impressed with Shiatsu here is a video: How to Give a Shiatsu Facial Massage |

Facial Clarity, Beauty, and Lifting with Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymph Drainage for the face is de rigueur for our French cousins, and gaining in popularity here. The face treatment works to get rid of excess fluid in the face, reducing bags under the eyes,  firming jawline, making eyes more clear and leaving the skin with an inner glow. A contoured, lifted face is the result.
After a lymphatic drainage treatment, you skin will be clear, smooth, toned and lifted, as the toxins are gently carried away. Drinking copious amounts of water enhances the treatment.
Vitamin C helps move lymph, as do products with geranium oil, such as Power Repair Face Cream. Between salon appointments, Clarisonic Opal and the Clarisonic Skin Care system both gently move lymph along daily. The LightStim LED helps too, as LED  light can promote lymphatic circulation and body metabolism.

Facial Steam for an Organic Facelift

Power Repair's Facial Steam is a an important step in cleansing the pores, flushing out toxins, accelerating cell regeneration, and hydrating the skin. Facial Steam purifies and clears the skin and balances oil production. The organic ingredients transport you to a lovely garden:  chamomile flower, red rose petals, pink rosebuds, purple rosebuds, lavender flower, and calendula flower.
1. Steam Pour boiling water into a bowl, with a genrous amount of Facial Steam. Maybe to the flowers add some drops of lavender oil. The latin word root is laver, to clean. In French Lavage is to clean.
Think about that as you breathe in the steam with a towel forming a tent over your head.
2.Cold water splash This is toning and helps flush out toxins. If you don't have melted snow handy, put a bowl of water in the freezer before your set up for this.
3. Fingertip Circles Take a bit  of lavender or geranium oil and apply it all over your face with small circular massage movements, working it in to areas that need attention.
4. Finger Drainage Movements Place your index fingers flat together in the middle of your forehead, and slowly push outward to the sides of the face. Repeat over the cheeks and finally the chin.
These movements encourage toxins to come out of the tissues.
Green Clay Refinisher Facial Mask stimulates new cell growth, and penetrates deeper after the steam. Listen some Bach celllo while the clay dries on your lovely face.

Sonnet 4 U

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate;
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
Sonnet 18, Shakespeare

Tone skin and muscles with Accupressure

Pressure point techniques can regulate the oils and moisture on the skin as well as the hormonal balance in the body. These points are deceptively simple, and yet they are vital to facial rejuvenation because they work inside as well as outside the face. This routine provide an energizing and harmonizing start to your day.

1. Finger pressures inside the eye sockets Place your index fingers on the sides of your nose near the inner edge of the eyes. Press gently for three seconds, then release. Repeat twice. This move is deeply relaxing to the area and can help ease eyestrain to the area caused by close work.
2. Finger pressures on the TMJ and edge of the eye sockets
Place your thumbs on your TMJ area and your cheekbones. You will be able to feel your teeth under the layers of muscle tissue. Hold for 3 seconds, these points help regulate digestive function and can also help control appetite and cravings.
4. Fingers over the thyroid area
With your right hand place your fingers and thumb over the dip in the clavicle. Press very gently inward for 3 seconds, and repeat twice. This helps balance the hormones in the body.

Geranium and le mois d'aout

Geranium is one thing that blooms through the end of summer fading garden tatters as the fingers of autumn creep over the lawn. Oh cheer up, fall clothes are the best!
Geranium oil has very positive effects on the skin - it boosts circulation and also invigorates the skin, and also balances the production of sebum, and helps to improve skin elasticity. This wonderful scented fleur boosts  the lymphatic system as well.
Geranium not only helps to reduce sebum production and return it to normal levels, it also helps to clear congestion from the skin.
It is helpful in relieving water retention , making it an excellent ingredient to use to prevent cellulite. Geranium essential oil also calms irritated skin.
When boosting the lymphatic system excess water  that may have been retained in the tissue is also released, which again translates into firmer skin.
Keep a bottle of essential oil in the shower a use it with your body wash.
This wonderful smelling powerhouse is found in many Power Repair products and Body Nurish skin care products, and Super Salve's Baby Products.

LED Lights Stimulate Collagen Production for a Natural Facelift

Collagen is what keeps your face radiant and full. It is very important to not let collagen production diminish, as it is difficult to restart. Vitamin C is the most important topical treatment for skin.
Collagen is a long, fibrous protein that forms the connective tissue which is responsible for your skin's elasticity and strength. Thinning of the skin, sagging and loss of fullness, occur when the collagen begins to break down in your skin. This process is a natural part of aging, which usually begins by your late twenties. Bummer.
LightStim, is  an LED handheld device that uses a NASA developed technology to stimulate collagen production. The lights energize the cells that are responsible for producing collagen. Over time the dermis layer fills up with collagen pushing the fold of the wrinkle out. Collagen helps to plump up the skin thus diminishing wrinkles and sagging. The fullness at a cellular level helps your skin retain its fullness.
LED has no adverse effects and is quite relaxing. LightStim helps your serums and skin creams penetrate and Nurish further into the skin. Best of all, it is designed for home. LightStim costs the same as three salon LED treatments, so it makes sense to have it at home. Radiant is a great way to face the day!

Aloe Vera for Skin Hydration

Aloe vera pulp is the clear, thick substance inside of the Aloe vera leaf. Aloe vera juice is made by liquifying Aloe vera pulp. Aloe is used in many skin care products because of its ability to stimulate healthy cell growth and repair damaged tissues. Aloe vera products contain the highest concentrations of healing agent which is beneficial for the skin.
Aloe makes the skin smooth and glowing. It does this by giving oxygen to the cells which in turn increases the strength and synthesis of skin tissue. This improves the ability of the skin so that it can hydrate itself, and has the ability for effective penetration and transports healthy substances through the skin. This prevents aging.
with body-loving nutrients such as vitamin E and C.
The Power Repair Toner is a must - it feels and smells so cooling your skin, and is found in many other Body Nurish and Super Salve products.

Marshmallow soothes and lights the way

Marshmallow ( Althea officinalis )-the herb, has been used for centuries as both a food and a medicine. Its botanical name comes from the Greek word "altho," which means "to cure." The Romans, Chinese, Egyptians, and Syrians used marshmallow as a source of meal. To reduce inflammation on the skin Arabs used its leaves and applied on external areas. Marshmallows are incredibly cool not because of its good taste, but also a good source of light, just lighting them you can create a great light in a dark campsite.
Due to exceptional healing properties it has been used by herbalists for many centuries to heal a range of ailments, hence its botanical name, Althea officinalis, from the Greek altho, meaning 'to heal'.
Taken internally, it aids digestion.
Externally, it makes you beautiful, and can be found in Power Repair Eye Cream and Body Nurish Daily Facial Regimen Hydrating Eye Cream.

Facial Cupping - the Natural Facelift

Colombe avec Fleurs (Detail) by Pablo Picasso
Best beauty secret ever - facial cupping. Facial cuppping facial increases radiance, tones the muscles, stimulates circulation and collagen growth.
It is basically a  facial massage using facial cups specially designed for your face.  This treatment will bring collagen to the surface and increase blood flow, reduces puffiness & dark circles, diminish lines, drain nasal sinuses and lymphatic system near the ears.
Cupping releases rigid soft tissue and stubborn knots. drains excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue; brings blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles.  The strong vacuum, or negative pressure, stimulates collagen production, and is completely natural. It enhances the face you have already.
Power Repair Fruity Lift spread on your face give the cups oil to slide on and has the enzymes working while this is happening. After cupping, while all the energy is surging around, apply Body Nurish Green Clay Refinisher Facial Mask. Masks can be drying, so finish with a heavier moisturizer, such as Super Salve's Coconut Cream

Dry Skin Brushing Keeps You Beautiful

The Body Nurish Clay Body Mask set includes a dry skin brush. It a powerful tool for health and beauty, and here is why:
Dry skin brushing may be the single most important therapy you add to your detox program. Your skin is your largest elimination organ. It releases a pound of waste each day and will be the first organ to show symptoms of imbalance or toxicity.
The skin eliminates a quarter of the toxins from the body.  Dead skin cells can build up and clog your pores. Clogged pores inhibit your skin from effectively releasing toxins.
If toxins are unable to escape through the skin they will either be stored in fat cells, contributing to cellulite and other fatty deposits, or they will be re-circulated back into the blood stream, overworking the kidneys, liver and other organs.
Exfoliating the skin is great for creating radiant and vibrant looking skin. It is  also essential for good circulation, strengthening the immune system, stimulating the nervous system, toning the muscles and improving digestion. Here is a list of the many  benefits of dry skin brushing:

  • Stimulates blood and lymph flow. The lymphatic system is an important part of your cleansing and immune system. White blood cells called lymphocytes carry nutrients to cells and remove waste. The lymph flows outside of the circulatory system to bathe, cleanse and restore all of our cells, but it must be returned to the blood vessels to dump its waste. It does this through tiny lymph vessels with one-way valves to the heart. Exercise, massage and skin brushing help to speed the process and clear the lymphatic system.
  • Removes dead skin cells. Dry skin is a sign of detoxification. It is important to remove the dead cells to keep from clogging the system. This will also improve skin texture and renew the skin cells.
  • Stimulates the hormone and oil glands. With daily brushing and bathing, the skin can produce the oil needed to stay healthy.
  • Reduces cellulite.  This requires daily brushing for several months to start to see results, but you are worth it. When you massage and stimulate the skin it begins to break up the toxic deposits of stored fatty tissues that pucker the overlying skin into cellulite.
  • Strengthens the immune system. Dry skin brushing can reduce the length of infections and illness by moving the toxins more quickly through the system and stimulating the lymph to move waste matter out.
  • Stimulates the nervous system, tones the muscles, tightens the skin. By stimulating nerve endings in the skin, this technique will rejuvenate your nerves and activate individual muscle fibers, resulting in toned muscles. The increased blood flow to skin, and removing of dead cells, stimulates the creation of new skin cells which tightens and regenerates overall skin health.
  • Nurtures your body. Maybe one of the most important benefits of this practice is purely the pleasure Spend this time, 5-15 minutes per day, giving your body the attention deserves.
  1. Brush your dry body before you shower or bathe, preferably in the morning.
  2. Start at your feet and always brush toward your heart. Use brisk circular motions or long, even strokes.
  3. Brush all the way up your legs, then over your abdomen, buttocks, and back. If you have cellulite on your hips and thighs, concentrate their a little longer. For complete dissolving of cellulite, brush for 10 minutes daily for several months.
  4. When you reach your arms, begin at your fingers and brush up your arms, toward your heart. Brush your shoulders and chest down, always toward your heart.
  5. Finish by taking a shower and if you choose, use cold/hot therapy to further stimulate the lymphatic system and improve circulation.
  6. Dry and massage your favorite body lotion or oil from the Super Salve Company.

Comfrey Promotes Cell Regeneration

Comfrey leaf is a popular folk herb traditionally used topically to promote healing of wounds. Allantoin is a compound found in this herb. It stimulates healthy tissue formation and is widely used in body care products for its skin-soothing and softening properties. Cosmetic experts have studied comfrey leaf and have found that it promotes cell regeneration.
Super Salve Co. has a wonderful Comfrey Lip Balm and a Comfrey Lotion, both are chock full nourishing herbs and things, but what is really great is Body Nurish Herbal Foot Treatment with comfrey leaf. Massage the soles of your feet thoroughly for 15 minutes or so before bed, you will see results quickly, and sleep better. A Reflexology chart can tell you more!
Of course, ending the day with a relaxing bath is always a good move:
Comfrey Bath Tea Bag
Comfrey grows wild in may places, and can be found in many herbal shops, along with muslin tea bags.
Pull a ribbon through the neck of the muslin bag, and tie. Attach the bag tie to the water spout in your bathtub and arrange it so the bath bag gets wet as you let in the water. Or you could just play with it in the water for a few minutes so the essence of the herbs dissolves into the water.
Bach Brandenburg Concerto is good for a bath, so is a soothing Herbal Jelly Face Mask. PG Wodehouse is great to read  in the bath, if you don't mind laughing out loud.

What Lies Beneath

Grace Kelly Photo
"Always judge by appearances, anything else is superficial." Oscar Wilde

There are many great ways to care for your skin and overall appearance of your face. Let's learn about the your face, this understanding will help you care for it.
Bones
The face forms the front of the skull, and is made up of thirteen bones. the jaw is two, which are fused below the nose. The lower jaw is movable, the nose is made of two flat bones, which join in the middle. The forehead is called the frontal bone.
Muscles
Important facial muscles connect to the bony structure; this allows eyes to open, eyebrows to lift, chewing, and the rest. The muscles of the cheek, the ring of muscle around the eyes, and the muscles around the mouth. Slack muscle tone in these areas directly affects facial shape, learn about exercises, massages and pressure points that will help preserve your natural glamour.
Skin
This tissue cover your entire body, regulating temperature through sweat glands and interpreting the world through nerve endings. The skin on the face is delicate because the muscles layer underneath is less dense.
The skin is made of cells that are constantly rubbed away and replaced. This renewal slows with time, so facial rejuvenation techniques are needed to nourish and replace this layer.
But for now, go stand on your head for five minutes to stimulate blood flow to nourish and cleanse, and we will talk again tomorrow.
